When he met his young parents he understood that will never be together for they met fell in love at the wrong time and situation. He knew what his younger self thinks so he tried to have him filling in the gap that he had. Maybe this time travel gave him the closure from the hurt and numbness. He is trying to make things better for himself by giving the mini him a better life. As for this novels love life. It was sweet and so adult, childish with sweet ness. I love it.
